The concept of calling card CD is to provide a productivity tool for business and consumers. Therefore, it is customary to include other utility tools and information for the users. In 9-11DBCC, we include the following utility tools and information.

Area Codes, International Calling Codes and Others

         Information Services

  • Guide to College Savings Plan - Information about college savings under the IRS 529 tax incentive is presented here. A calling directory of all 42 states' college savings plan administrators and management is provided for an easy click and call. (This information is kindly provided by TLC information Services for 9-11DBCC users)

  • Medical World Search Engine (MWSearch) A special medical search engine which interprets query terms and expands into medical and health taxonomy based on a medical thesaurus. The search engine was offered to 9-11 victims and their families to use for searching medical information.

Extending Toll Free Numbers to World Wide Access

Relevant I800 Directory

I800 directory is a useful business directory listing business toll free numbers such as 800, 888, 877, 866  phone numbers in one place for callers' convenience. I800 directory is a directly callable directory domestically or internationally. Domestic toll free numbers are  treated as international calls for callers if called from overseas by phone. In an I800 Directory hosted on the web, every number listed can be clicked and called from the directory list over the Internet without international call charge.  In this 9-11DBCC, some relevant i800 directory listings are collected for downtown business and visitors to use. For more information on i800 directory visit I800 Directory.

Some business toll free numbers related to downtown businesses are collected in Relevant I800 Directory. Just click a number and call.

Adopt-A-Company Program for Downtown Businesses ( Adopt-A-Company )

Adopt-A-Company is a strictly voluntary program which offers opportunity for adopter companies to adopt adoptee companies in Downtown New York. Some adopter companies provide cash donations and some offer services and other form of help to the adoptee companies.

For Example, Cooking by the Book, Inc. located at 13th Worth Street, New York City, has been adopted by four companies. The company has been able to produce more marketing material with the help received from the adopters. Because the company's proximity to Ground Zero, on the days following the tragedy, when all downtown was blocked off, all of Cooking by the Book's classes had to be cancelled. The company has a long list of clients but many client companies have left the area which affected a majority of their year round business. Recently on August 5th, the company sent a letter and company brochure to all adopters in the Adopt-A-Company program not to plead for donations or grants rather to get the word out: the company is still in business. Cooking by the Book is just one of many adoptee companies in the program. Do visit this company's website and the website of Adopt-A-Company for more updated information.

Adopt-A-Company offers a coupon book which contains discount coupons for doing business with Downtown Businesses. (for future coupons visit Adopt-A-Company)
