Business for Downtown Business Seminar Series
August 29, 2002, New York, NY - The first Business for Downtown Business Seminar Series
was held this morning at the Sprint Advanced Technology center at 76 9th Ave. (16th St).
Despite the horrendous downpour in the morning, people showed up and enjoyed the seminar.
Dr. Ifay Chang, President of IPO2U.COM presented an introduction on the objectives of this
seminar series and demonstrated the DBCC directories with their calling card feature
which binds customers and downtown businesses closer and easier to do business. Mr. Chris
White of Sprint PCS gave a broad view of wireless technology and how various products can
help small and medium businesses to work more efficiently in sales and
customer relation support areas. Ms Ann Kayman, Sr VP of NYC Economic
Development Corporation, provided rich
information about various assistance programs to help downtown businesses. Audiences
responded with a lot of questions and got their answers. Ms Liz Smith, Director of marketing
and Public Relations and Mr. John Borders, an experienced Greeter from Big Apple Greeter
gave lively presentations about how greeter program can help New York attract visitors and
retain them as friends of New York. Nearly all of the attendees present indicated desire to
attend the second BDB seminar to be help on 9/6th at the same location.
The 9/6th BDB seminar session will be chaired by Don Winter, President
of Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. The session will feature a presentation on how to do interactive marketing to
promote business by Ron Kovas President of I-traffic, Agency.com and a panel session devoted to 9-11 web review
with artists, web creators, 9-11 volunteers and rescuers giving personal first hand
discussion about 9-11 and related activities. The making of 9-11DBCC,
an interactive CD for promoting downtown business, will be reviewed by
Dr. Ifay Chang at the
seminar with the hope that businesses will order and distribute these special CDs to their
employees, clients, and customers to promote Downtown NY. With a
distinguished panel and speakers, the seminar is
expected to be a full-house. Reservations and photo ID are strictly required due to
