What is different between Radio Control versus Remote Control? The former uses radio frequency to transmit the control commands in radio pulses over the air in a wireless mode. Whereas the remote control typically transmits the control signal through a wire connected to the vehicle. To buy a radio controlled toy, you need to consider the following factors:
Saftey: Is the toy well built that it will not be easily broken or fall apart, especially upon impact? No sharp objects that may injure a child or a person.
Durability: Is the motion powered by battery efficiently so there is a reasonable playing time for a pack of battery? Can battery be charged up in reasonable hours? Is the engine well designed to convert the electrical power to mechanical power?
Control: Is the transmitter and control electronics well designed to give expected maneuverability? Is transmitting range sufficient? Are control contact buttons always making good contact? (avoid intermittent contact problem) Ask about the radio frequency used in the radio control, avoid a transmitter that uses the same frequency as in other household radio devices such as garage door opener, surveillance monitor, etc.
Price comparison: Is the price reasonable among different manufacturers? Are replacement parts priced fairly
