We must understand what Marketing is and what Marketing is not.

We must understand the bare bones basics of a Marketing Plan and why you need one.

Third,

We will describe 10 "can do" Marketing Strategies for small companies that can create BIG successes.

1999-Present, Investment Advisory committee for Colt Capital Corp. LLC, a private equity fund

2000-Present, A member of the Advisory Council for The Center for Women's Business Research (formerly The National Foundation for Women Business Owners). It is the premier source of knowledge on women business owners and their firms world wide.

1972-1998 Distlefink Designs, Inc. Co-Founder, Owner, CEO, created, manufactured and distributed over 3000 consumer products for the $9B craft and hobby industry. All of the company's products were created for "do-it-yourselfers" and were distributed through major catalogs, TV marketers, distributors, specialty retail chains like Michaels, Inc. and mass merchants such as Wal-Mart and Toys R us. The company was sold to a financial firm in 1998 as a strategic roll-up partner.

1980-1990, Purchased and operated with two partners, The Shore Inne, a 14 bed B&B on the Connecticut shoreline. Sold the Inn in 1990.

1995-Present Repurchased the Inne out of the bankruptcy as a sole owner. Professional Innkeepers presently operate the Inne.

1997-2001, Board of Directors, MarketPlayer, Inc. the premier supplier of stock market competitions and financial tools for individual investors on the Internet (Best of Web; Forbes 2001)

1997-Present, Board of Directors, Hubbard Hall Inc., a major regional chemical distribution and specialty manufacturing chemical company.

1998-Present, Board of Directors, Offshore Sailing School, the #1 sailing school in the world.

1998-Present, Board of Directors, Secretary; Silver Hill Hospital Inc., a premier full service independent Psychiatric Hospital.

1992-Present, A member of the Executive Committee (TEC), an international network of 4000 CEO's who form chapters of 14 members and meet one day a month for seminars and confidential exchange of ideas and advice to maximize business growth and profitability.

1976-Present, A founding member of AWED (American Women's Economic Development Corporation), the first federally funded program for women entrepreneurs. Presently a member of its chairman's circle.

Personal

Married since 1962 to Daniel H. Murphy, an attorney. Actively involved with two children, six grandchildren, and 22 nieces and nephews. Love quilting, sailing, golf and gardens.
